when can we expect a test of the new 2012 Waveboards with about 75 Liter? Single, Twinser and Quads against each other!
Because german surf-magazine I don´t trust in testing. There testteam is to much influencend by personal sponships of the testteammembers and business related aspects I think.....

Always interesting to see which brands graphics are popular with sailors ,but looking at the results I think the poll ended with folk voting for the brands they like rather than the graphics ,and most certainly dont buy sails based on there graphics and colour schemes
The most dissapointing thing is that one of Europes biggest selling brands was left out of the poll yet again ,but that probably has more to do with magazine advertising policy in the UK ?

Why is it that as soon as Boards mag get involved in anything it goes to garbage!

I have just read through the recent wave board tests and this shows exactly what effect conglomerating the only independent UK windsurfing media source into the M "borer" circus has had.

Can Bseeker/boards/mporia "who ever" publish your advertising percentages for 2010 and compare these with the equipment tests.

I have tried out most of these boards on demos this year and there are some blatant dogs in this tests which have been hidden to the public.

Giving the starboard "barge" quad (if you can call sticking 4 fins into a mould left over from the evil twin) top marks on get up and go is just plain ridiculous. That monstrosity of a board was the worst thing is I have ever ridden since the Evil Twin.

However I expect Starboard to be pretty high up on the advertising list along with JP whose pretty dull bouncy board appears to have done best in the test, surprise surprise.

Shame the only mag that appeared to have some balls has gone, sold out to the humdrum that is boards magazine.

Best Advice - Never buy a new board. Read the historical reviews in boardseeker, when they were slightly true, or on the forums and buy secondhand. On ebay these days you can get twin fins for £300-400 quid. Avoid any starboard ever made. Multi mass produced in thailand and design by a thai race guy based on scraps of info from McKercher.

Why not try a quatro built and designed by full time windsurfer and top ripper Keith Taboul.

Or even better grab a custom that are kicking around super cheap these days, based on the best shapes ever made, from quatro, Nelson, D-light, Why or even home brand Moo. Top quality materials and build without the #148596060 number produced stamp which must make handing out the best part of £1500 all the more gut wrenching.

It would be good to start a new independent forum site where people can honestly report the good and bad points fo equipment, like they do for mountain biking with out the media monster being able to edit and scrutinise whats going on.
A new site would also help clean out the regular butt-munching cling-ons which mag websites forums seem to attract (which I am certainly not). After this rant I will go and hide away for another year until it all builds up again.

I'm just dissapointed that a sport I love is being run into the ground by a bunch of money hungry morons with opposing agendas to their normally faithful readers. If I had the time and skill to launch a truly independent website where true windsurfers could congregate to share their findings and love of the sport I would have done it already.

Anyway I can forsee a lot of replies telling me how buying secondhand will kill the windsurfing industry in the UK and it will spiral into decline and doom for all windsurfers. These will be mainly from the importers themselves like mr fuller, hackford, murray etc, their minions or unfortunate souls who actually believe the hype.

Just think though, why is windsurfing kit changed every year, has it really ever advanced that fast. A good model car can be around for four years before a new model is produced. Half the time the new designs of kit are worse than last year, take the icon or evo for instance. If everybody stood together as united front we could change things for the better.

And remember after reading this never underestimate how much some people know about a sport they love and the mysterious and seedy workings which go on within it.

We are watching you and awaiting our time for the anti Mporia uprising.

I enjoy the features and coverage of your podcasts but is there any chance of making the podcasts downloadable so that they can be watched offline? Something the cold hawaii classic did very effectively and common practice by web sites offering digital media.
Secondly, can the automatic flash player have it's playing state set as stop? Maybe if the podcast were offered as a download and or stream (with it's playing state being set as stop) the users choice is empowered.

What is up with all of this SUP bigging up rubbish you have been filling out your daily updates with recently?
Is there nothing more of interest out there in the massive windsurfing world?
What next boogie boarder gets up on one knee?
Kitesurfer spins aimlessly in circles?

Is this the new direction now the BOARDS mag bandits have got there long fiddly fingers into the mag?

SUP loving printed mags bending over for the board producing advertisers who are trying to sting the frustrated windless readers up to £800 for a thrill they could get from an old bic calypso and a cut down oar.

SUPs may have there place in fat, lazy waves or flat water cruising but please don't force this barbage onto real windsurfers.

It's hard enough to get away from the things nowadays at real surfspots, why they haven't been banned from busy beaches is a question which should soon be answered before a serious accident forces the point.

Michi Eskimo is most famed in Maui for doing daily SUP coastal runs in a pair of tiny speedos, which would almost guarantee him a cover from the old boards editor. I don't care if all the top UK pro guys are riding SUPs, they are either jumping on their sponsors bandwagons or lame enough to think surfing is beneath now.

Have a flick through SUP mag and see how everybody is trying to sell you the idea of how great it is to SUP.(P.S I only flicked through as it's is always better to understand your enemy)

True adrenaline sports such as windsurfing don't need to go on and on about how amazing it is, one go and your hooked.

So please give us more windsurfing news and no more of this unforgiveable pushing of Strangely Ugly Pastime in your mag.
If I want to see people bent over and grunting away like a chimp I'll search out b@tchseeker.com.

If surfing is compared to skateboarding,
Body boarding would be rollerblading and
SUPing would be the recent trend of crap skooters that plague todays skate parks with a little handle to help the under fives or more talentless balance.

At the moment the play and pause buttons are next to each other, which means if I want to play/pause/play/pause (similar to frame by frame viewing), it's a right mission as the mouse has to be moved move left click/move right click/move left click. I also can't go back and forward frame by frame.

I'm hoping it's a single change to the flash player, but could you make the play/pause into one button? Also, is it possible to have frame forward/frame backwards either as buttons or arrow keys?

What about making a test of the raceboard sails on the market. You guys seem to have the now how and the right platform to make a long wanted test. In 2009 the raceboard woulds hade over 110 entrys, the biggest in 20 years. The rules are “changed” to the 9.5 m2 rig, and I am sourer that a test of the different 9.5 m2. sails and mast/sail combinations, would bee a scoop for your magasin. There is a lot of guys and girls out there that would love to read it.

Hang loose

After reading the Porcella article (which I loved), I can't help but wonder whether there is any proofreading done by the magazine at all. We can't expect windsurfers to know how to construct complete sentences, use "are" and "our" properly, or even punctuate. But is this knowledge not required for magazine editors? Porcella is too busy charging Jaws to care about grammar. What is the mag's excuse?

Put this on the starboard forum so i thought you guys should see it too - this is actually me after taking a day or so to calm down after reading the test.
Good thing none of the boardseeker people were at my beach on monday........

Ok guys - Boardseeker mag seem to be trying to set themselves up as a new pan european testing authority on windsurfing gear - and so far seem to have been pretty balanced about it.

But what a weird test for the Q-76 the french, germans and even the printed UK magazines loved it .I heard that one of the UK magazine testers bought a Q-76 for himself after doing the test.

I'm wondering whether they have been "bought" by Quatro - all they seem to do is bang on about the Quatro twins and quads and at the first opportunity they had to really have a go at SB they fully piled in there.

The UK distributor puts lots of advertising the way of boardseeker and their boss even had a quatro shaped for him a few years back.

Kinda makes you think they are not at all impartial.

As a UK customer who has bought (and loves) the Q76 convertible i'm really upset and angry about this as it'll no doubt impact severley on my boards resale value- plus all the "trendy" kids will think i'm a muppet.

Glad to get that off my chest.

Surely "Last week a big and stormy swell hit Maui, and people enjoyed in very different ways. There was something for ...." could easily be said about the UK right now? We've had gale force winds over the weekend, yet the only story of any waterpsorts is the BBC kitesurf link i posted.

I love to hear about where its going off and everything else from the world of our great sport, but surely a little more UK would be good esp as its presently firing!.. How about region roundup.. get the shops/region reps to report on wknd action, encourage photos to make us all envious about that sick session we missed...

Hi everybody,

I'm new on the forum but i m a long time user and big fan of boardseeker. I'm french so appologise for mystakes...

anyway, the subject of this topic is to point out a massive issue with airtime league: WHERE IS Dale Cook??!

also i suggest you to add a longjump category as it can look very insane!

please take a look at the video from the gorge and in particular the "rocket" jump from dale cook at the end. The guy seems to fly one meter above the water and over at least 10 or 15 meters!!
