400 or 430?

Hey,

I just got rid of my 430 SC6 that I did not find suite my Simmer Iron 5.7 (2010). The thing is that I now am hesitant to go for a good 430 rdm or just use my 400 rdm-10, with a long extension, to my 5.7 (luff 439) which is my biggest sail. My thoughts are if it would be better to use the good rdm-10 400 instead of a rdm 430 with a moderate level of carbon, ca 60 %. I do not want to pay that much for a 430 since it will be my light wind/sunny day equipment.
I know that I should try but right now the ice make it a bit hard. ;)

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Found the same issue with my Simmers.
I use one size down in terms of masts and find it works well (400 on my 5.3 instead of 430).
Much better in the light winds and I find they handle better etc. in terms of being "softer".
