If you're on this site reading this forum then you already know the answer. Question should be: Who has been out on the water today? Me, and grinning and glowing because of it. Offshore, gusty and gutsy on a 5.0 North Vertigo and an old Screamer tearing up and down the bay 30 - 100 metres from the shore. Further out would have been more fun but with an hour and a half of workable daylight,by andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
- 2 years agoHi Leon, my good friend is a large guy and when the wind blows he sails his longboard and makes it look like a shortboard, he is resisting my encouragements to try gybing and is happy to persist with tacking or just making sure he turns into wind and guiding the sail to fall on the best side for him to pick it up again on the new tack. He is starting to really make use of harness lines this yeaby andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
thanks to both your and ChrisJ ' s responses. I have found that the inserts with the bar do twist out but the plug replacements have so far resisted, otherwise I could probably set them for a better higher wind position by swapping them around. For the variable and increasing days I have just swapped up to my old Screamer when I can but have been desperate to get out the lower volume wave boardsby andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Just wondering who the brave "winter" windsurfer might be in the pics supporting the Jamie Cox article about safety and RNLI support. Do you know anyone who uses a short sleeve suit in winter? Personally I wear enough to keep a country warm.by andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
My local spot has the big brown/red ones with tentacles and the clear ones with 4 purple hoops. But what should you do if you get stung a little, or a lot?by andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Apart from a lack of skill, I'm thinking that the footstraps are too far in front of the fin and this is keeping too much water line or rail in the water. Also as the wind picks up it seems that the harness lines start to feel too far back and /or the sail wants to helicopter around and catapult me front hand first. The sensible thing to do next time would be to use a smaller sail and put theby andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Hi, all further to my previous post I'm looking at Lanzarote as a possible family holiday with a focus on getting my 9 year olds and their mum started. A number of questions, though: Is there a nice gentle dependable wind? Is there a nice gentle, hazard free water entry? Is the lesson and kit hire provision at Las Cucharas beach any good? Anyone have any other suggestions/ locations? Aby andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
thanks, I happened to be looking at Kefalos and Freedom last night. Can you confirm other web reports that I have read that say it's gusty offshore and dead zones especially near the shore. I'm pleased to hear that the kids kit is good though, as that's the main priority. Did you use the family 2 adults share 1 board for 30% more? There seems to be a big choice of apartments too - I wonder ifby andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Thanks Sparrow, I recognised your name from your earlier posts re: Jobs In your experience, with families such as ours, do the new to windsurfing members go home happy or is it all a bit full on and too exhausting, so I'll be forced to endure a disney holiday next year (payback)!? Hi everyone, I'm looking for suggestions for getting my 2 nine year old boys and partner hooked and happy. The boys have used their own sails 1.5 and 2.0m to get in a few runs but actually still beginners. So far, we've looked at the all inclusive Mark Warner in Turkey - anyone out there have direct experience of this place or alternative suggestions. These packages are not inexpensive, that'sby andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
I too had complete rupture and damage to soleus = 9 weeks in cast whilst it grew back (they call it a conservative procedure, or something like that) since most complete tears seem to be like pulling apart wet paper and hence are difficult to stitch back together since they are pulpy and within hours the body is beginning to reattach. As you probably know by now, however treated though, the rby andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
I am puzzled as to what these links are doing on the forum - especially as it seems to be just to advertise - yet site is only in Spanish? ?pregunto porque? is there not some way old expatriate welsh community teashop thing in this patagonia area? ?salones de te? And didn't Blue Peter go near here for a whale watch?by andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
in light winds I'm currently using this old board which I find very easy to sail and very stable but when the wind picks up I find the footstraps, at the most forward position, are too far forward. Here's my problem: the current straps are double screwed at each end BUT the other placement positions have white plastic insets with a plastic bar that reminds me of the old Vinta fittings and I cannoby andywindsurf - GENERAL DISCUSSION
