Change of plans… As I had my ticket open for the return flight, yesterday I decided I’m going back home today. So here I’m now on the ferry to Lanzarote to catch the 17:45 flight to Dusseldorf. I had to start packing my stuff before 7 in the morning as I was prepared to leave on the fifth and all the sails were still rigged. I will take a chance to thank all my sponsors for giving me a chby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
SO this is it! No more wind showed up on the beaches of Sotavento. Judges decides that the event will be cancelled because we can’t finish the double anymore. So the results stay like they were after the first double: 1. Jose Gollito Estredo 2. Tonky Frans 3. Marcilio Browne 4. Steven van Broeckhoven 5. Kiri Thode Congratulations to all the riders and especially Steven who sailed reallyby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Hello everybody, Here in Fuerte still no changes. The temperatures are not going down and the wind is not picking up. It will be very difficult to run anything more as we have to finish the next double elimination for the result to count. I guess if nothing going to change today the results will stay as they are now. Styler thanks a lot. I’m happy with the result as this was the first timeby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Contest is on hold while typical calima showed up on the beaches of Sotavento. All the riders are relaxing in the tent as the weather outside is really tropical. The temperature is pushing up to 40 degrees. Yesterday we managed to finish the double elimination. The most impressive sailor of the day was again Steven van Broeckhoven who advanced 6 heats and got stopped by Tonky Frans. Tonky wentby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Today we continued with the double elimination from yesterday. The wind was very good from the morning. The only thing which was not right was the fact that they had to resail few heats. The judges said it was to close and didn’t see some moves. It’s quite strange for me because on this level each rider is showing their maximum and then if they have to resail that’s quite unfair I guess. Soby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Single finished. Gollito Estredo won the single elimination against Marcilio Browne. Tonky Frans in third with Kiri Thode in fourth. The level was unbelivable. All the guys showed really fluent stuff. In every heat we could see moves like burner, culo, air funnel or ponch combinations. I had my heat against Levi Lenz from Brazil. I had a good run. I was feeling quite confident with all my moves.by pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
The show is unbelievable here in Fuerteventura. Push loops, burners and all the combinations done really fluently. Gollito and Tonky are on fire at the moment. I think those two guys will rule this event. Taty Frans got eliminated in the first heat by a French rider Adrian Bossom. Also writing very strong is Steven van Broeckhoven. I won my first heat. I sailed quite well. Didn’t fall too mucby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
The first heat just started! So we are on! The second PWA event is underway. 37 riders registered yesterday for the contest. We started the day with a skippers meeting whit a small introduction speech from Rene Egli. Today we have around 25 knots of wind and the first round is running. I’m in the last heat of the second round against Lenz from Brazil. We will see if I still remember some mby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Slalom heat 1 was just cancelled due to too gusty wind. They will try to run heat 2 now.by pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Hello, Today I can officially welcome you to the first day of the second PWA event in Fuerteventura. At 1 p.m we start registration. Slalom crew is preparing for their last day as they plan to start in few minutes. The freestyle registration list before the event was quite large with 48 riders. Now, we will see how many guys are out because of the injuries and how many will not come. My guessby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Today Sotavento beach welcomed us with really inconstant wind. The judges had to cancel first slalom race because the wind was from 8 knots up to 25 knots. Some of the freestylers went out on the water but it looked like they didn’t have too much fun. A lot of guys are already taking it easy before the event. We have the registration tomorrow with the first elimination starting on Tuesday.by pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Hey Simon, thanks, hope I will a bit more news to write about when the contest will start. So sometimes in Sotavento we have some small waves and you could go for some doubles. From what I remember only Antxon Otaegui landed one clean last year. The thing is they are quite close on the inside. Very often there is no wind on the inside so its difficult to find a right ramp and have enough power.by pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
What a day!? First of all it was just too much wind... I went out twice today and twice it was a lot too much for my 4.2. I could easily go with my 4.0 which would be too big anyway. I’ve chosen my 4.2 because the high tide makes it really light on the inside. It didn’t help! The slalom fleet was really struggling with the conditions but Peter Volwater took the most out of it finishing alwayby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Hello, Today in Fuerteventura it is just crazy. We have more than 40 knots of wind. All the slalom races are using their smallest sails and the freestylers are barely holding on to sail under 4 meters. So I guess Antoine is just out of the range. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bit lighter like yesterday or really strong like today. He is just holding the level and keeps winning every singleby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Hello everyone! So today we’ve seen some awesome slalom action with over 30 knots of wind. In the evening I went out on a 4.2 Icon and I was really maxed out so I’m having a lot of respect to the slalom guys because it was really hard out there today. I went out around 5 p.m just after the slalom finished and it was gusty, choppy and really windy… in other words: typical Fuerteventura! Anyby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Hello and welcome to the Boardseeker live blog from Fuerteventura which is the second freestyle PWA event this year. From now on I will tell you all the inside stories from this event until the 3rd of August. I’ll take over the blog after Phil Horrocks who started it and did a great job in Pozo. Hopefully I can match his level. So firstly let me write few words about myself. My name is Jakubby pol288 - GENERAL DISCUSSION
