There are a lot of good ideas for how to separate a stuck windsurf mast but over the years I have found the absolute best way is with sheer man power: 1 guy twisting each halve of the mast = no joy 3 guys either side = easy mast separation!! Seriously a mast that can seem totally stuck together can be apart in a matter of seconds if you just have enough people twisting each section.by Poole Windsurfing - GENERAL DISCUSSION

The clamp system on any modern boom does 'snap' shut, this is a good thing as it means you get a nice solid connection between the mast & boom. Having said that, it should not be a super human effort to close the clamp over & maybe you should look at loosening off the inhaul rope (the little bit of rope at the front end of the boom) which controls how much 'squeeze' is put on the mast asby Poole Windsurfing - GENERAL DISCUSSION
Not that it probably helps you out, as you already have your choosen windsurfing van but.... VW Transporters (T4's or T5's) are really the windsurfing vehicle of choice, with a nice low overall height that should get you into pretty much any height restricted car park. In an ideal world you would create your windsurf sail quiver in one go, so that you can get the optimum size break between sails. In the real world that doesn't happen very often, so I would say just try to keep around 0.5m between each sail. In your case the 4.7m is a little close to the 5.0m but then there is this big gap between the 5m & the next size up of 5.7m, so getting something aroby Poole Windsurfing - GENERAL DISCUSSION
